The H. Upmann 1844 Barbier Toro cigars are the first in the brand to feature barber pole wrappers. These 6 x 54 Toros are made with a golden-brown Connecticut Shade and a dark EMS Sumatra wrapper interwoven to look like a barber pole - hence the German word for barber, Barbier. Inside are aged Nicaraguan, Dominican, and USA broadleaf long fillers held together by an Indonesian binder. The result is a complex and medium-bodied smoke with flavors of leather, cedar, and cream when the flame hits the lighter wrapper, and notes of chocolate, earth, and black pepper when the flame reaches the darker leaf.
