Rick's grandparents, who were skilled cigar rollers from Cuba, brought their craft and stories to West Tampa when they moved there in 1953. Rick's upbringing surrounded by traditional cigar factories motivated him to learn the trade from influential figures like Benji Menendez and Ernesto Perez Carrillo. Following successful creations such as Flathead for CAO, Rick joined forces with Gus Martinez, whose marketing acumen had influenced well-known brands in the industry. Together, they established a company focused on producing high-quality cigars deeply rooted in tradition yet appealing to a modern audience.
