Placement: 

Never store your humidor in direct sunlight. This may fade the wood & heat the inside of the humidor damaging your cigars.  Keep your humidor away from heat or cold, like a window or fireplace. 

Cleaning:  

Use a soft, lint-free cloth when you wish to clean the exterior of your humidor. 
Never use polishes of any sort. 
Never use any kind of cleaning solutions for the inside of your humidor. 
The chemicals will be absorbed into the cedar & can ruin the flavor of your cigars.
