The Macanudo Certified Vintage is the most desired amongst the best selling premium brand cigar throughout history. There are only a few manufacturers like General Cigar that cover all aspects of planting, growing, harvesting and processing their very own Connecticut Shade wrappers. General Cigar is the second largest grower within the Connecticut River Valley of the Dominican Republic behind the farmer named Oliver Thrall and were the first to declare Vintage Years for their wrappers crops. These years are known for their outstanding burn characteristics and clarity. They produced Macanudon Vintage cigars using these exceptional wrappers indicating the year the crop was originated: 1979, 1988 etc. These wrappers were continuously selected and sorted for this purposes and there were years where quality was evident, but the quantity was limited and not commercially accessible. Regardless, the cigars were manufactured each year strictly for comparison purposes. We were able to get production to let go of a limited quantity of the Macanduo Vintage cigars through persistence and an enormous amount of negotiating. |
